The charging port is used to charge the iPhone XS and connect it to a computer. On the iPhone XS the main microphone sits on the same assembly and is replaced along with it.

What installation involves

Before replacing it, take a look inside the port: often compacted dust is all that prevents contact – clean it carefully with a wooden or plastic stick. If that doesn’t help, the assembly is replaced; the device has to be opened for this.
