The back cover is the rear of the Sony Xperia XZ2: it closes off the housing at the back and protects the battery and internals from dust and knocks.

When the back cover needs replacing

The part comes from the official Sony spare parts programme and carries the manufacturer part number U50052184 – the same component an authorised repair centre installs, not a copy. Choose the colour to match your device – the easiest way is to compare it with the part you removed.

What installation involves

The back cover is glued on. It is loosened with heat; afterwards all adhesive residue must be removed thoroughly before the new cover is fitted and pressed on evenly for a while.
